Raw Food on the Silver Screen

Raw food has gotten some attention on the silver screen lately. The first mention was in the movie Baby Mama…which was hilarious by the way. In the movie two of the main characters played by Tina Fey and Greg Kinnear go to a raw food restaurant. They end up eating blue green algae (which looked like salad, and the appetizer was a big ball of yeast. LOLOL. The yeast ball was a weird touch and the characters end up leaving the restaurant to go find some meat…but it was a funny moment. Greg Kinnear’s character also owns a smoothie/juice bar.

And not to long ago raw food debuted in the HBO vampire series True Blood. I am a big fan! The character Jason Stackhouse meets a new love interest named Amy and she is a raw foodie. She looks healthy, hippie, and robust and she touts the benefits of raw foods and how they cleanse the body. Jason also starts eating raw food she prepares, telling her it is “crazy delicious”. BUT Amy’s character is also a V drug addict (vampire blood) and she is homicidal as well…so not the greatest character to represent raw foods.

The picture below shows the scene. Jason and Amy are on a picnic blanket eating strawberries, blueberries, green grapes, carrots, almonds, and what looks like olives.

Still it is nice to see mainstream mentions of raw food! Did you see either of these?
